Beechwood Lake

Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission biologists conducted an evaluation of panfish and bass populations at Beechwood Lake, Tioga County in May. Yellow perch, black crappies, and bluegills were the most abundant panfish in the survey. Yellow perch ranged in size from 5 to 10 inches, black crappies ranged from 2 to 10 inches, and bluegills ranged from 2 and 9 inches. Additionally, trap netting for panfish produced good catches of walleye up to 10.5 pounds, some nice sized chain pickerel, and numerous stocked trout.

Beechwood Trap Netting

Beechwood Walleye

Night electrofishing produced an excellent catch rate of largemouth bass greater than 15 inches. Our biggest largemouth was 22 inches long and weighed 6.5 pounds. Our biggest smallmouth bass was 17 inches long and weighed 2.8 pounds. Largemouths were much more numerous than smallmouths in Beechwood Lake.
