Fishing Creek
Commission staff surveyed the "Narrows" section of Fishing Creek, Clinton as part of an evaluation of our Trophy Trout waters. Two historical sites were surveyed to represent the Trophy Trout Section. The upper site began at the State Forest Boundary approximately 240 yards downstream of the SR2002 bridge below the Tylersville Fish Culture Station and continued upstream for approximately 400 yards. Population estimates are conducted semi-annually and are summarized from 1994 to 2000:

The 2000 survey turned up more legal size (14 inches or larger) wild brown trout than ever recorded at the Tylersville (upper) site. Numbers of legal size wild brown trout at the Lamar site were about the same as in previous surveys. In addition, a very strong 2000 year class of brown trout was present at the Tylersville site, which is good news for the future of this fine fishery.
We have also received reliable information of two angler caught brown trout exceeding 22 inches within the Trophy Trout section. Congratulations to those anglers!
